Blank:
The blank character (ASCII SPACE) is available to the user and is typically generated by pressing the spacebar on the keyboard. A blank may represent a valid indicator or code; or it may mean an indicator is undefined, or that no information is available.
The graphic characters <_> (underscore) or <#> (number sign) are sometimes used in this on-line Help to represent a blank.
