260 Subfield $d - Plate or publisher's number for music (Pre-AACR 2) (NR ): (USA only Local Subfield)

point_b1.gif Subfield $d is used in the United States to support retrospective conversion of Pre-AACR 2 cataloging records. It was made obsolete in CAN/MARC in 1988.

point_b1.gif Subfield $d contains the plate number or publisher's number assigned to printed music. Subfield $d is only used in bibliographic records created according to pre-AACR 2 cataloging rules. Pre-AACR 2 records for music generally do not include ISBD (M) punctuation. For records created according to AACR 2 , these numbers are recorded in field 028 (Publisher Number) .

point_b1.gif MARC 21 conversion to current fields:

260 $d converts to 028 $a; 260 $b is also copied to 028 $b; 028 indicators are set to 21.
