Temporary data:

If any portion of the number in the extent is subject to change (e.g., when the record for a multipart item is not yet complete), angle brackets (<...>) are customarily used to record that part of the data which is subject to change. The opening or closing data may also be omitted until the first and/or last price of the bibliographic item is received.

One space precedes the opening angle bracket if the bracket is not the first item in the subfield and if it is not preceded by a hyphen. Three spaces precede the closing angle bracket. One space follows the closing angle bracket unless the bracket is the last character in the field.

Examples:

300 ##$a<v. 1-2; in 3 > :$bill. ;$c26 cm.

300 ##$amaps <4 > ;$c24 cm.

300 ##$av. <2 > :$bill., forms, maps ;$c27- cm.
