013 Subfield $b - Country:

Subfield $b contains a code representing the country or jurisdiction associated with the patent document. The source of the code is MARC Code List for Countries that is maintained by the Library of Congress. When an entity other than a country is associated with the patent document, the code is recorded in subfield $f (Party to document) . The country in which the patent document was published or produced is represented in coded form in field 008 (Fixed-Length Data Elements) , positions 15-17 (Country code) . This is not always the country as coded in field 013 $b. If the same patent document number has been used in more than one country, field 013 must be repeated for each.
