0A. Scope (General Rules)
The rules in this online help cover the description of archival moving image material of all kinds, including complete and incomplete theatrical features, television, shorts , compilations, video art, trailers , commercials , newscasts, newsfilm , unedited footage, outtakes , stock shots, screen tests, and educational programs. Examples are included to illustrate specific rules or concepts, e.g., levels of descriptions, version, etc., and are not intended to be complete descriptions. However, examples of complete descriptions are included in Appendix A .

Each of these areas is divided into a number of elements as set out in this and in follwing sections. Not all areas will apply when describing individual items. For a definition of the area terms, see the rules for each area and the Glossary, Appendix G .
