1G3. Statement of Responsibility (Title and Statement of Responsibility)
Choose the credit function/type of responsibility terms as found on the item unless secondary research proves them to be inaccurate with relation to the original production, or unless such transcription would result in lack of clarity (see also 1G5 .). The language of the terms depends upon the language of the original, of the item in hand, and upon the availability of secondary reference sources in the language of the original. When there is uncertainty as to the translation of credit or distribution functions, use the terminology as it appears on the item or other sources. When there is a direct translation for credit and distribution /release functions, use the English terms for these functions.
For international co-productions, make relationships of the companies and their countries clear by adding the name of the country in parentheses after the company. When the identification of the country name is uncertain, bracket the name. If there is great uncertainty, include a question mark within the brackets.
