Subject access (added) entry (Bibliographic 6XX):

An entry, secondary to the main entry , that contains names, uniform titles, topical subjects, or terms which provide additional access to a bibliographic record. The subject added entries or access terms are based on the lists and authority files identified in the second indicator (Subject heading system/thesaurus) or in subfield $2 (Source of subject heading or term) of the 6XX bibliographic field. Subject added entries are assigned to a bibliographic record to provide access according to established subject cataloging principles and guidelines, or generally accepted cataloging and thesaurus-building rules. 6XX fields may be used by any institution assigning subject headings based on the lists and authority files identified in the second indicator position or in subfield $2.

In authority records, code a (008/15 - Appropriate) indicates that the 1XX field contains an established name , name/title , uniform title , topical term , or extended subject heading that conforms to subject heading system/thesaurus conventions. These headings are appropriate for use as a subject access entry in bibliographic records.
