Description/Instructions:
Field 555 contains a statement of volumes and/or dates covered by cumulative indexes for a serial and a statement of location of these indexes, whether issued as part of the serial or issued separately. Input different types of indexes and different types of index notes (i.e., formal vs. informal) in separate 555 fields.
Do not confuse field 555 with field 510 , which is used to record abstracting and indexing services. A cumulative index is indicated in a 555 note when it is an integral part of the serial. Field 510 is used when the indexing is external to the publication in hand.
