Disk:

A circular, flat device with one or both sides coated with a magnetic material on which information or instructions are written or stored. Disks for computers are formatted into tracts and sectors, with each sector having the same fixed length or capacity to store information. Disks are direct access storage devices in that the computer can reach the desired information without having to scan all the information that precedes it.
