Cassette:

A device consisting of permanently encased magnetic tape that winds and rewinds from reel to reel. The container, usually made of plastic, is open on one end to permit insertion of magnetic heads and the drive mechanism; the remainder of the tape is completely enclosed. Standard dimensions of a cassette are 3-7/8 x 2-1/2 inches and the width of the tape is 1/8 inch.
