Scale Statements:

Verify approximate scale statements computer from bar scales, degrees of latitude, etc. In updating such statements make allowances for a degree of variability in reading natural scale indicators, rounding off results, etc.

Coordinates:

Verify that coordinates have been supplied according to appropriate instructions(3) and policy. However, as differences in coordinates affect identification of duplicates and "bumping" of records, allow a fairly wide degree of variation in the scope of coverage before making a change.
