Procedures and Guidelines - Classification and Shelflisting:

Classify the shelflist the item according to standard procedures, adding to or modifying the call number in the record (as well as o the item and the temporary shelflist card). The indicators in the "incorporated" record are set to indicate that the item is not in LC and that the call number was assigned by an agency other than LC.

In updating the record change the indicators to reflect that the item is in LC and that the call number was assigned by LC. Example:

When a record is "incorporated" a copy statement (tag 051) containing a standard message will be generated and is displayed immediately after the call number. This field is to be deleted before the record is verified. Example:

The geogrpahic classification code(s) (tag 052) should be checked and if necessary revised to match the call number and/or subject tracings.
