This coding is based on information present in the publication, distribution, etc. area. An [s.l.] in the imprint must have a corresponding xx in Box 6.

For manuscripts, provide the code for the geographic area in which the repository for the manuscript is located (e.g., code a manuscript located in the Library of Congress as dcu). Also note that a facsimile, or other published reproduction of a manuscript is coded for the country or state in which the reproduction is published rather than for the location of the original.
