Structured Contents:
A structured contents note contains a descriptive word or phrase followed by an exact transcription of the titles of each item to be included. An item without a title may be included in a structured contents note by creating a title enclosed in brackets.
Structured contents notes are used either alone or in combination with simple contents notes but never with a formatted contents note. The choice whether to use a structured contents note, a simple contents note, or a combination of the two is based on aesthetics, style, and readability. Note: the instructions indicate only when a particular type of note may by used, not when it must be used.
Formulation and punctuation of structured contents notes are illustrated in the examples.
