When the earlier edition differs in main entry from a later edition and the earlier item carries a statement of responsibility, the main entry of the earlier item is included as the statement of responsibility in the Rev. ed. note.

When the earlier item does not carry a statement of responsibility, but is entered under a corporate body that is also transcribed as the publisher, the corporate body responsible for the earlier item is included as a statement of responsibility and not as a publisher in the Rev. ed. note. Example:
