If the title of the original also applies to the facsimile (i.e., has been "carried over" from the original to the reproduction in the same form as part of the graphic reproduction process) record the common title as the title proper.

If the facsimile has a new or modified title that is different from the original title transcribe the title relating to the reproduction as the title proper and record the original title as other title information. Also transcribe the original title in an "original version" note (tag 534), along with other titles relating specifically to the original. The intent of the double transcription is to clarify the relationship between the facsimile and the original and to indicate, specifically and explicitly, the status of the other title information as the original title. Since the double transcription is repetitive, normally abridge the transcription of original title as other title information.
