Roman Alphabet - Title and Part of Map Contents in Different Language(s):

When the title and map contents are in different language(s), within the limits of intelligibility, construct a language note, consisting of consecutive phrases separated by periods, to indicate what pasts of the map are in which languages. There is no set pattern for such notes, but generally, begin by stating the language(s) of most of the map or the titles, and then explain how the rest of the contents differ. As above, more than five languages are listed by number rather than by name. Examples:

When the presence of languages, other than those in the title, is limited a simple note of the exception may suffice. Example:

The language of the place names may be included when it differs from the other language(s) of the map, or when it is likely to affect the use of the item.

It may sometimes be possible to incorporate language information into a contents note, and thus avoid the need for a separate "language" note, when only a few items are in languages other than those made obvious by the title. Care must be taken in constructing "language" notes to prevent misunderstanding of which elements are in the named language(s). Examples:
