a. Quoted notes:

Quoted notes are only given in fields 500 and 521 (see 13.9). When another tag is more appropriate, omit the quotes. In practice, quoted notes are not usually given. One reason is that the information given in the note is likely to change on later issues. Remember, do not give information found on the chief source that constitutes other title information in a quoted note (see Module 6).

b. Citations:

According to AACR2 1.7A3, cite the source of a quoted note if it is taken from a source other than the chief source of the item. For serials, give a citation when taking information from a source other than the serial. In practice, since research is rarely done, and quoted notes are avoided, citations are rarely given.
