C13.4.  Reporting CONSER statistics

CONSER management statistics are used by the PCC Policy Committee as part of determining whether contributions by participants meet the requirements of the institution's membership category as set forth in A4. CONSER Membership.  In addition, the statistics reported by each institution and additional ones supplied by LC are used for general program monitoring and for answering questions about the CONSER Program.

C13.1.  OCLC subscription pricing

Record authentication work done under CONSER OCLC authorizations is tracked and factored into OCLC's subscription pricing for individual institutions.

C13.2.  CONSER membership requirements

As noted in the chapter on Membership, in addition to other requirements pertaining to active membership, there are volume of activity requirements.  The correlations between the requirements stated in A4 (quoted below) and the statistics reported on the World Wide Web are indicated below.

C13.2.1.  Full Member Volume of Activity Requirements

"Contribute a minimum of 200 newly authenticated or modified records per year." (FN 1) (A4.2.1.3)

C13.2.2.  Associate Member Volume of Activity Requirements

"Minimum of 100 transactions per year that may include first time authentication, subsequent authentication, or maintenance transactions."  (A4.2.2.3)

The annual total of transactions must be at least 100.

C13.2.3.  Affiliate Member Volume of Activity Requirements

"75 transactions per year."  (A4.2.4.3)

The annual total of maintenance activities must be at least 75.

C13.2.4.  CONSER Enhance Member Volume of Activity Requirements

"50 transactions per year."  (A4.2.3.3)

The annual total of maintenance activities must be at least 50.

C13.3.  General monitoring

Production statistics are available on the World Wide Web (http://www.loc.gov/aba/pcc/stats.html).

C13.4.  Reporting CONSER statistics

The deadline and URL for reporting CONSER statistics are announced twice a year.  Three categories of statistics are reported by CONSER members:

A.  All records authenticated for the first time.  Please report originally created records and existing records authenticated for the first time (i.e., 042 code "pcc" or "msc" is added for the first time).  This category includes any newly authenticated records coded as CONSER Standard Records and CONSER Minimal Level Records (i.e., encoding levels "blank" and "7").

B.  Maintenance of Authenticated CONSER Records.  This category includes activities such as upgrading encoding levels (e.g., 7, 8, "lccopycat" to "blank") and changes made to related CONSER records (e.g., closing out and linking related CONSER records).

C.  Maintenance of Non-CONSER Records Related to CONSER Cataloging.
