$a Edouard-Denis Baldus was one of the leading architectural photographers of mid-19th century France. A founding member of the Societe Heliographique, he participated in the Comite des Monuments Historiques, photographing historic monuments in Paris, Fontainebleau, Burgundy, Dauphine and Provence between 1851 and 1852. Baldus is also known for his documentary photographs taken during renovation of the Louvre.
