Field definition and scope:

Field 065 contains a classification number assigned by a cataloging agency using a scheme other than the Library of Congress Classification scheme; the classification systems of Library and Archives Canada, the National Library of Medicine, the National Agricultural Library, the U.S. Government Printing Office, and the U.S. Department of Defense.  These latter numbers are recorded in fields 050 (Library of Congress Call Number); 052 (Geographic Classification); 053 (LC Classification Number); 055 (Library and Archives Canada Call Number); 060 (National Library of Medicine Call Number); 070 (National Agricultural Library Call Number); 082 (Dewey Decimal Call Number); 083 (Dewey Decimal Classification Number); 086 (Government Document Call Number); and 087 (Government Document Classification Number).

The field is not to be used for classification numbers assigned from a source for which a subfield $2 source of number code would not be assigned.

The National level record requirement for this field is Optional.

Field 065 is repeatable.
