Character position definition and scope:

A one-character alphabetic code indicates the dimensions of the microform, not the dimensions of the image.  For example, 16 mm. images on 35 mm. microfilm are coded f (35 mm.).  Only the most common dimensions are indicated.

Only codes that exactly match the measurement of the item as given in the physical description should be used.  If no code exactly matches, code z (Other) is used.

A fill character ( | ) is used when no attempt has been made to code this position.
