Field definition and scope:

Field 501 contains a note indicating that more than one bibliographical work is contained in the physical item at the time of publishing, release, issue, or execution.  The works that are contained in the item usually have distinctive titles and lack a collective title.  The field usually begins with the designation With:, Issued with:, etc.

This field may be used to describe separate works that were bound together locally, in which case subfield $5 contains a code that indicates the institution to which the note applies.

For sound recordings, when the works of different composers are issued on the same sound recording, a separate record may be created for each of them, each containing a With note.

For motion pictures, videorecordings, and filmstrips, the note indicates that two or more distinct titles are presented on the same reel or strip or contained in the same cassette, etc.

For original or historical projectable graphic material and for opaque graphic material, this field contains notes on the other image or part when one is cataloging as separate records two or more separately titled images on a single support or parts either bound together or in one container.

The National level record requirement for this field is Optional.

Field 501 is repeatable.
