If an ecclesiastical parish consists of a single church, do not establish a heading for the parish. Instead, use the heading for the church. Treat the name of the parish as a variant form of the name of the church.

Example A

If an ecclesiastical parish consists of two or more churches and/or chapels, apply the following:

1. If the parish and one of the churches have a name in common, use the heading got the church.

2. If the name of the parish is different from the name of any of the churches, establish a separate heading for the parish. Treat the heading for the parish according to rules for local churches (e.g., 24.3G, 24.10).
