24.31 Jurisdictions

For a jurisdiction which has undergone name change(s) and for which separate headings have been established in the Name Authority File, the heading for the latest name (regardless of the coverage of the work) is assigned providing the geographic area represented by the headings remains basically the same.

For a jurisdiction which has undergone complicated name change(s) (e.g., merger or split) and for which separate headings have been established, the heading or headings chosen for each work vary according to the nature of the change and the scope of the work.
