Materials intended for juveniles up through age fifteen or the ninth grade are assigned headings that reflect their juvenile nature. Main headings implying juvenile materials are used if available; otherwise, regular headings with subdivisions indicating the juvenile nature of the materials are used. In MARC records for children’s materials selected for the Annotated Card (AC) Program, valid headings without juvenile subdivisions from the regular list, supplemented by headings taken from Annotated Card Program: AC Subject Headings, are assigned as alternative headings.
