42.211 Geographic headings

For an item depicting an identifiable place, a geographic heading that represents the area most closely, with applicable subdivisions, is assigned. Generally, bi-level headings are not assigned. For items covering the entire world, the heading World maps is assigned. For places that have undergone name changes, unless there are specific instructions indicating otherwise, the current name is used regardless of the time period represented in the item. Examples
