Adjacent personal name initials/letters or an abbreviation for a name and an adjacent name or initial/letter are separated by one space.

Examples:

No spaces are used in initials/letters that do not represent personal names.

An abbreviation consisting of more than a single letter is separated from preceding and succeeding words or initials/letters by one space.

Example:

A name portion containing an open-ended date ends with a space when it is followed by other data in the same subfield; it does not end with a space when it is followed by another subfield.

Examples:
