Subfield $2 specifies a MARC code that identifies the source of the term in subfield $a when it is from a controlled list.  The source of the code is Source Codes for Vocabularies, Rules, and Schemes (Musical Instrumentation and Voice Code and Term Source Codes) that is maintained by the Library of Congress.
