Character position definition and scope:

A one-character alphabetic code indicates the playback speed of the sound recording.  This code is only intended to relate to the playing speed of a sound recording rendered on a mechanical device.

Speed is associated with the kind of item with which it is associated; either disc (when 007/01 is code d), cylinder (007/01 is code e), or tape (007/01 is code g, s, or t).

For more information, select:  007/01 Sound recording: Specific material designation.  A fill character ( | ) is used when no attempt has been made to code this position.
