Content designator history:

First indicator - Uniform title printed or displayed

Values  2 - Not printed on card, title added entry  (MU)  [obsolete]

3 - Printed on card, title added entry  (MU)  [obsolete]

In 1993, the first indicator was redefined from indicating whether the uniform title is printed on a card (and, for music, whether an added entry is to be made) to indicate for all forms of material whether the uniform title is to be printed or displayed.  Consequently, first indicator values 0 and 1 were redefined and values 2 and 3 were made obsolete.

Subfield $d - Date of treaty signing  [defined]:  The date of signing of a treaty was not separately subfield coded prior to the definition of subfield $d in 1980.

Subfield $g - Miscellaneous information  [changed, 2014]:  In 2014, subfield $g was made repeatable.

Subfields  $n - Number of part/section of a work  [expanded]

$p - Name of part/section of a work  [redefined]

Prior to 1979, subfield $n carried only serial, opus, or thematic catalog numbers that occur with music items, and both the number and name of a part were included in one subfield $p.  Subfield $p (Part) was redefined to include only the name of a named part/section and subfield $n was expanded to include the number of any numbered part/section in 1979.

Subfield $s - Version  [changed, 2017]:  Subfield $s was made repeatable.
