Notes are provided under some headings in order to define the scope, to explain the relationships among headings, and to assist in the proper application of the headings so that consistency in assigning headings to documents on like subjects may be achieved. Although notes are intended as aids to catalogers, it is recognized that they can also help catalog searchers by clarifying the sense in which a given heading is used.
