4E. Date of impression
When a date of an impression
later than the first is given in the publication and it differs from the date of publication transcribed as the date element, give the impression date in parentheses followed by the word "impression." Example 1
When such a date of impression differing from the date of publication is known from a source outside the publication, give it in square brackets. Example 2
When the actual date of impression is known to differ from the date of impression given inside the publication, give it as a correction within square brackets. Example 3
In the above cases, the source of the date of impression and any explanations may be given in the note area if useful.
