Codes Used in Field 084 (Other Classification Number - Bibliographic) and (Classification Scheme and Edition - Classification)
This field contains a call number, or classification number, alone assigned by a cataloging agency using a scheme other than the Library of Congress Classification, the classification systems of the National Library of Canada, the National Library of Medicine, the National Agricultural Library, the U.S. Government Printing Office, Universal Decimal Classification, or Dewey Decimal schemes. These latter numbers are recorded in fields 050, 055, 060, 070, 086, 080, and 082, respectively. This field contains numbers assigned from foreign classification schemes as well as from U.S. classification schemes. The field is not to be used for classification numbers assigned from a source for which a subfield $2 source of number code would not be assigned.
