Description/Instructions

Field 263 is used by NSDP when preparing a prepublication record for a serial.  This field contains the projected date of publication of the first issue as provided by the publisher.

NSDP updates this field if the publication of the item is delayed and a revised date is obtained from the publisher.  When NSDP updates the record upon receipt of a copy of the publication, this field is deleted.  If the serial is never published the record is deleted from the CONSER database.

CONSER members that update NSDP prepublication records (see C6.1) leave field 263 in the record and do not change or delete it.
