263 Projected Publication Date (NR) (Variable Data Field)
Field 263 contains the projected publication date of a work. When field 263 is present, Leader/17 (Encoding level) contains value 8 (Prepublication level).
This field is used for works that have not yet been published but which have been cataloged as part of a cataloging-in-publication (CIP) program or similar programs that create prepublication records, such a the U.S. ISSN national center program. Data is provided by any publisher participating in the program for items it plans to publish. Field 263 is maintained in the record until the work is published and the item is received by the program.
The National level record requirement for this field is Optional.
Field 263 is NOT repeatable.
