Description/Instructions

Field 307 contains chronological information identifying the days and/or times an item is available or accessible.  It is used primarily in records for electronic services.  Field 307 is not appropriate in most serial records.

When displayed or printed as a note, hours, etc. information is in some instances preceded by an introductory term or phrase that is generated based on the first indicator value.

Display constant

The introductory term Hours: may be system generated as a display constant associated with the first indicator value.

Editing instructions

Punctuation

1.   Add a period at the end of the field, unless another mark of punctuation is present.

2.   In subfield $a, use a comma (,) to separate the hours information from the days of the week information.

3.   If subfield $a is followed by a subfield $b, separate by using a semicolon (;).

The first indicator position contains a value that controls the generation of a display constant preceding the note.

#    Hours.

Value "#" specifies that no information is provided.  When no information is provided, the display constant Hours: may be generated.

Value "8" specifies that no display constant is to be generated.

Subfield $a contains information that identifies the days and/or hours an item is available or accessible.  Informal references to the A.M. and P.M. time references and well as time zone can be given in this subfield if required.

307 ## M, 8:30-6:00; Tu, 8:30-7:00; W-F, 8:30-6:00; $b but not available on weekends.
