Description/Instructions

Field 522 is used to record the geographic coverage of the serial.  The coded form of the geographic information is recorded in field 052 (Geographic Classification).

Field 522 ends with a period unless another mark of punctuation is present.

First indicator - Display constant controller

The display constant Geographic coverage: may be generated based on the first indicator value (i.e., "#").  First indicator value "8" specifies that no display constant is to be generated.
