Field 747 contains a named event that is equivalent to the named event contained in the 147 field of the same record.  It links headings within a system or from different thesauri or authority files.

The National level record requirement for this field is Optional.

Field 747 is repeatable.

Guidelines for applying content designators:

The content designators identify the subelements occurring in named event headings constructed according to generally accepted thesaurus-building conventions (e.g., Faceted Application of Subject Terminology (FAST)).

Named events are those which cannot be regarded as responsible agents, e.g., battles, earthquakes, famines, financial crises, fires, hurricanes, riots, strikes, volcanic eruptions, wars, etc.

Named events which can be regarded as responsible agents such as meetings or conferences as well as athletic contests, competitions, expeditions, expositions, fairs, festivals, sports events, tournaments, etc., are recorded in X11 fields.
