Content designator history:

In 1975, character position 008/34 was redefined.  Prior to the definition of variable data field 222 (Key Title) in 1975, 008/34 was defined as Title as it appears on the piece designator.  The defined codes were:  d (Different), t (Same as field 245), and m (Same as 1XX plus 245 fields).

006/17 and 008/34 SE  Successive/latest entry  [renamed, 2001]:  This field was renamed Entry convention in 2001 to accommodate integrating entry convention.
